Travelers have several options for reaching Sajek Valley from Dhaka, typically starting with a journey by road.
Day 1 Route: NJP → Darjeeling
Traveling from NJP to Darjeeling typically takes 3 to 4 hours by road (taxi/cab), covering roughly 70–100 km depending on traffic and road conditions. Via Pankhabari Road NJP → Siliguri → Pankhabari → Kurseong → Darjeeling. This route is stepper and scenic. Taking the route from NJP to Darjeeling via Pankhabari Road is a treat for those who love steep, winding climbs and dramatic shifts in scenery. As you leave the plains of Siliguri, the road quickly gains altitude through the Pankhabari Viewpoint, where you can look back at the vast Terai region below. This stretch is famous for its "hairpin" bends and takes you directly through the lush, manicured slopes of the Makaibari and Ambootia Tea Estates, offering some of the best tea-garden photography spots in the region. Once you reach Kurseong, the road merges with the classic Hill Cart Road, allowing you to stop at Eagle’s Crag for a panoramic view of the Teesta River or grab a quick bite at the iconic Margaret’s Hope tea lounge. The final leg of the journey passes through the misty forests of Sonada and the high-altitude town of Ghoom, home to the famous Ghoom Monastery and the Batasia Loop, before finally arriving in Darjeeling.

Day 2: Darjeeling Sightseeing
A full-day Darjeeling sightseeing experience typically begins before dawn with a drive to Tiger Hill to witness the sun rise over the Kanchenjunga and Everest peaks, followed by a stop at the Batasia Loop and the historic Ghoom Monastery on the way back. After a hearty breakfast at an iconic spot like Keventers, the day continues with a "mixed-point" tour, featuring a visit to the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park to see red pandas and the adjacent Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. You can then soar over emerald tea gardens on the Darjeeling Ropeway or walk through the historic Happy Valley Tea Estate to learn about tea processing. The afternoon is best spent seeking serenity at the Japanese Peace Pagoda or watching climbers at Tenzing Rock, before finally winding down your evening at Chowrasta (The Mall) for a relaxed stroll, local snacks, and some souvenir shopping.

Day 3: Darjeeling → Sitong (1 Night Stay)
The journey from Darjeeling to Sittong (also spelled Sitong) typically takes between 1.5 to 2.5 hours by road, depending on the route chosen and current traffic or weather conditions. Via Peshok Road & Mungpoo: This slightly longer route is around 40 km and takes approximately 2 hours 10 minutes. You take the Peshok Road from Jorebungalow, turn at 3rd Mile, and pass through Mungpoo and the Jogighat Bridge. Choosing the Peshok Road and Mungpoo route offers a diverse blend of river views, tea heritage, and literary history. Starting from Darjeeling, your first major stop is Lamahatta Eco Park, where you can walk through a manicured pine forest to a sacred mountain lake. As you continue, the road opens up to the expansive Peshok Tea Gardens, leading to the famous Lovers Meet View Point, which provides a spectacular bird’s-eye view of the emerald-green confluence of the Teesta and Rangeet rivers. A short detour brings you to the quiet village of Mungpoo, where you can visit the Rabindra Museum, the former summer residence of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, surrounded by Cinchona plantations. The journey concludes with a crossing of the picturesque Jogighat Bridge over the Riyang River, a popular spot for photography and peaceful riverside moments just before entering the orange orchards of Sittong.

Day 4: Sitong → NJP Drop
Enjoy peaceful sunrise & breakfast and then drive back to NJP (approx. 2.5–3 hrs).Drop at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station.
Day 1: Arrival at New Jalpaiguri followed by a scenic drive to Darjeeling via Pankhabari Road, enjoying steep mountain views, tea estates, and stops at Kurseong viewpoints; check-in and relax.
Day 2: Early morning sunrise at Tiger Hill followed by Batasia Loop and Ghoom Monastery; later visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Zoo, Ropeway, Tea Estate, and Peace Pagoda.
Day 3: Drive from Darjeeling to Sitong via Peshok Road and Mungpoo, visiting Lamahatta, tea gardens, Lovers Meet viewpoint, and Mungpoo (Rabindra Museum); check-in at homestay.
Day 4: Enjoy a peaceful morning in Sitong and drive back to New Jalpaiguri for drop-off.
